As the year draws to a close, the buzz surrounding World Ice Skating Day (WISD) on December 15 adds an extra layer of excitement to the holiday festivities. This global celebration of skating aligns perfectly with the unveiling of SM Skating Academy’s revamped Learn to Skate program, designed for budding skaters eager to embark on their icy adventures.
For many aspiring athletes, this program has been a crucial starting point, transforming novices into skilled skaters. With an eye toward 2025, SM Skating Academy is enhancing this beloved initiative through collaboration with the Philippine Skating Union (PHSU), ensuring participants receive top-notch coaching alongside engaging experiences.

The Learn to Skate program offers three distinct tracks: Figure Skating, Speed Skating, and Ice Hockey. Each track allows skaters to delve deeper into their interests while developing essential skills over an immersive 8-week course priced at Php 4,500. Group classes foster camaraderie and spirit; however, for those seeking personalized attention, one-on-one sessions are also available.
Skating not only provides a unique avenue for physical activity but also promotes balance and self-confidence while cultivating a vibrant community amongst enthusiasts. The Learn to Skate initiative strives to make ice skating accessible for everyone—regardless of age or prior experience.

Under the guidance of certified coaches in a nurturing environment, participants will build foundational skills that could pave their way toward competitive skating careers or simply offer them joyous moments on ice.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the SM Skating Academy! Our mission is simple: help skaters at all levels learn and have fun while honing their craft,” stated Nikki Cheng, President of PHSU. “Together we will cultivate future Filipino talents who can shine globally.”
