The Philippine Dive Experience made waves on November 27 as the Department of Tourism (DOT) officially kicked off this exciting initiative in Anilao, Batangas. The event commenced with a ceremonial Banging of Air Tanks, led by Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco alongside distinguished members of the diplomatic corps. This gathering underscored the Philippines’ commitment to solidifying its status as a premier global destination for diving and marine biodiversity.Tourism Secretary Frasco was joined by ambassadors from various countries, including South Korea, Bangladesh, India, Laos, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. The DOT celebrated a remarkable year in Philippine diving—having been named World’s Leading Dive Destination at the World Travel Awards for six consecutive years—and receiving additional accolades from TripZilla Excellence Awards and Diving Resort Travel Show.

Participants had the opportunity to experience Anilao’s breathtaking marine life firsthand. Certified divers navigated through colorful reefs while exploring dedicated conservation projects like LOVE Reef—an artificial reef born from community efforts aimed at protecting local ecosystems.

Meanwhile, non-divers were not left out; they enjoyed guided scuba experiences that provided an engaging introduction to the rich underwater world that lies beneath Batangas’ waters. In tandem with these festivities was a coastal cleanup at Anilao Pier—a testament to DOT’s dedication to sustainable tourism practices.

This initiative not only promoted environmental stewardship but also fostered community involvement in preserving their natural heritage while showcasing one of the country’s finest treasures: its vibrant underwater ecosystem.
