In Cebu, a growing movement toward community readiness is taking shape as Bell-Kenz Pharma brings its Sagip CPR Training Program to the forefront of public health efforts. Hosted at Southwestern University PHINMA, the initiative gathered 1,500 participants—from students to frontline workers—who took part in learning Hands-Only CPR, a critical skill that can mean the difference between life and death in emergency situations.

The training reflects a simple yet powerful idea: in many real-life emergencies, the first responder is not a medical professional, but an ordinary person present at the scene. By equipping individuals with the knowledge and confidence to act, Sagip CPR is helping transform bystanders into capable lifesavers. The strong turnout in Cebu highlights a growing awareness that preparedness is not optional—it is essential.

For Southwestern University PHINMA, the program aligns closely with its mission of fostering a safe and supportive environment. Ms. Maita G. Magalong, Vice President for Student Life, emphasized this shared responsibility, saying, “The significance of Sagip CPR training lies in our shared goal of providing a safe environment—one that can only be achieved when we are equipped with the skills to respond effectively during emergencies.” Her statement underscores the importance of empowering individuals with practical knowledge that extends beyond the classroom.

Bell-Kenz Pharma sees Cebu as a vital area for expanding its advocacy. With its vibrant economy, active communities, and growing population, the need for emergency preparedness is more pressing than ever. “We see Cebu as a key area where community preparedness can truly make an impact,” said Patrick Larraga, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Head of Bell-Kenz Pharma. He further highlighted the program’s deeper purpose: “Every individual trained represents a stronger chance of survival for someone in need. In critical moments, courage and action matter more than hesitation, and that is exactly what we aim to instill in every participant.”

What began as a single initiative has now evolved into a nationwide movement. Since launching in 2025, Sagip CPR has expanded across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, reaching thousands of Filipinos through collaborations with government agencies and local communities.
As Cebu continues to grow, programs like Sagip CPR remind us that progress is not just about development—it is about resilience. By building a network of trained individuals ready to act, Bell-Kenz Pharma is helping shape a future where communities are safer, stronger, and prepared for whatever comes next.
