Health Facilities for Law Enforcement Officers at Camp Bado Dangwa Hospital

Recognizing the unique health challenges faced by law enforcement officers, the SM Foundation has taken significant steps to enhance medical care for uniformed personnel. Studies have shown that police professionals often endure higher rates of physical and mental health issues due to their demanding roles.

These challenges stem from irregular hours, constant vigilance, and exposure to traumatic incidents, leading to increased risks of heart disease, chronic pain, sleep disorders, depression, and stress.

In response to these pressing concerns, the SM Foundation recently completed a renovation of the Camp Bado Dangwa Hospital in La Trinidad, Benguet—marking this as their fifth upgraded police facility and 212th wellness center overall.

Police Col. Alma Paredes emphasized that historically there has been a stigma against seeking medical assistance among officers due to misconceptions surrounding toughness in law enforcement. The refurbished Camp Bado Dangwa Hospital offers an improved environment tailored specifically for its personnel’s healthcare needs.

Originally established in 1929 and named after Igorot war hero Bado Dangwa, this hospital now boasts a new pathological laboratory aimed at delivering quicker diagnoses alongside enhanced services including dental care and teleconsultations.

As part of the inauguration festivities following renovations, SM Foundation also conducted a medical mission providing free consultations and medication for both active officers and retirees like Rodolfo Gregorio—who noted how vital this support is amid rising healthcare costs.

With its updated facilities ready to accommodate more patients efficiently than ever before—and with new features like an advanced Search and Rescue (SAR) box—the Camp Bado Dangwa Hospital symbolizes a renewed commitment not just towards healthcare access but toward honoring those who uphold peace in society.

The upgrades are not merely structural; they signify a transformative approach where health becomes paramount even within challenging professions.
