Chef Tatung’s Recipe for Business Success at Sun Life’s Coffee & Play Event

Aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned business owners gathered on November 29, 2024, for an inspiring and interactive experience at Sun Life’s Coffee & Play event. Held at The Kitchen by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in BGC, the event featured renowned restaurateur and content creator Chef Tatung Sarthou, who shared his valuable insights on building and sustaining a successful business.

Chef Tatung combined his expertise in the culinary world with practical business strategies during a live cooking demonstration featuring his signature dishes, peri-peri chicken and chicken macaroni. As the aroma of his creations filled the venue, he shared three key ingredients for entrepreneurial success:

1.Define Success and Plan for It: “Success happens by design, not by chance,” Chef Tatung emphasized. He encouraged attendees to establish a clear vision and a detailed plan, along with fostering a strong team of leaders and hardworking individuals who align with their goals.

2.Adopt a Problem-Solving Mindset: Chef Tatung highlighted the importance of resilience and adaptability, stressing that overcoming daily challenges should be ingrained in every entrepreneur. “Successful businesses thrive because they solve other people’s problems,” he said.

3.Seek Professional Guidance: For business growth, Chef Tatung urged entrepreneurs to seek expert advice on finance and legal matters. He emphasized the value of sound professional guidance in navigating complex aspects of business management.

Following the talk, participants enjoyed the opportunity to sample Chef Tatung’s dishes and engage in a lively game session featuring Sun Life’s board game, Play for Life: A Game of Choices. A special edition of the game tailored for business owners allowed attendees to simulate real-world decision-making in a fun, collaborative environment. Table winners were rewarded with exclusive prizes from Sun Life and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

“Through this event, we aim to empower entrepreneurs to make informed decisions for their life and business goals,” said Renee Co, Sun Life’s Market Segment Manager for Business Owners.
