The SM Group is set to elevate Central Luzon’s position as a prime hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) with the planned expansion of SMX Convention Center Clark. Scheduled for completion between 2026 and 2028, the project will significantly increase SMX Clark’s capacity, making it one of the largest SMX venues in the Philippines.
Aligned with the SM Group’s integrated property development approach, the expansion supports Clark’s growth as a thriving MICE destination. “Through the efforts of SM’s business units, including SMX Clark, Park Inn by Radisson Clark, and SM City Clark, we’re helping transform Clark into a world-class hub for events,” said Eduardo Miguel Morato, SMX Clark’s Cluster Senior Branch Manager. He also highlighted how the initiative creates local job opportunities and promotes tourism.
Strategically located 20 minutes from Clark International Airport, SMX Clark provides seamless access to event venues, accommodations, and retail spaces. The area’s MICE industry has flourished, with 115 events held in 2023, ranging from festivals to sports events. In addition, the Clark Development Corporation reported 16.3 million tourist arrivals from January to June 2024, including an astounding 1,869% increase in same-day guests.
Park Inn by Radisson Clark, with over 200 rooms and plans for expansion, bolsters the MICE experience by hiring 80% of its staff locally, ensuring strong community ties.
SMX Clark hosted the prestigious MICECON 2024 in July, further solidifying its status as a premier venue. With SMX operating eight branches nationwide and new facilities like SMX Cebu slated to open in 2026, SM continues to drive the MICE industry forward. “This is more than infrastructure—it’s about creating a thriving community,” Morato emphasized, underscoring SM’s dedication to innovation, collaboration, and growth.
