Building Futures, One Skill at a Time: LG and Good Neighbors Unite for Youth Empowerment

Mr. Jaechoon Lee, Country Director of Good Neighbors Philippines, shakes hands with Mr. Nakhyun Seong, Managing Director of LG Philippines

In a bold step toward empowering underprivileged youth, LG Electronics Philippines has partnered with Good Neighbors International Philippines to expand the reach of the Learn and Grow vocational training program. Formalized on July 28, 2025, through a Memorandum of Understanding, LG pledged ₱1.2 million to fund tools, training materials, and essential resources that will prepare young Filipinos—particularly Care Leavers transitioning from sponsorship programs—toward self-reliance.

The signing, attended by LG and Good Neighbors executives, underscored a shared mission: to equip marginalized youth with practical, in-demand skills for sustainable careers. This initiative focuses on refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) servicing, a trade that continues to grow in demand due to the country’s booming tourism industry and rising temperatures. For communities like San Isidro in Rodriguez, Rizal—where poverty, limited education, and high dropout rates hinder opportunities—this program offers a lifeline toward stable employment and long-term economic independence.

Good Neighbors, an NGO active in the Philippines since 2008, has built a reputation for advancing child protection, education, and youth empowerment in 11 communities nationwide. Learn and Grow is one of its flagship efforts, combining technical training with personal development to help graduates enter the workforce equipped for success. The program addresses a pressing gap: while millions of Filipinos aspire to better livelihoods, many face barriers such as financial hardship, lack of training access, and unstable job markets.

LG’s involvement brings more than financial aid—it injects industry expertise into the program. Globally known for its innovations in home appliances, LG also prides itself on its strong after-sales service network, making it a fitting partner in fostering technical mastery. “Supporting the Learn and Grow program aligns with LG’s mission of creating a better life for all,” said LG Philippines Managing Director Nakhyun Seong. “By giving young Filipinos the skills to thrive, we are investing in a stronger, more self-reliant generation.”

The collaboration mirrors LG’s “Life’s Good” campaign, transforming corporate social responsibility into tangible, life-changing impact.

Through Learn and Grow, participants gain more than just vocational skills—they gain confidence, direction, and the tools to turn ambition into achievement. With LG and Good Neighbors working side by side, a new generation is being equipped to break cycles of poverty and step into futures filled with promise.
