Western Philippines Tourism Showcase Highlights Regional Travel Opportunities in Olongapo

Tourism stakeholders from across the country gathered in Olongapo City as the Western Philippines International Tourism Showcase (WPITS) 2026 officially opened at the SMX Convention Center, providing a platform to promote the region’s diverse destinations, tourism products, and investment opportunities.

The opening ceremony brought together key figures from the tourism, hospitality, government, and private sectors, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening domestic and international tourism. Among those in attendance were Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr., former Department of Tourism Secretary Dr. Mina Gabor, officials from the Department of Tourism representing several regions, executives from leading hotels and resorts, representatives of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, tourism organizations, and industry partners.

A highlight of the opening program was the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, signaling the start of the multi-day tourism and trade exhibition. The event features exhibitors from different parts of the Philippines, presenting travel destinations, accommodations, cultural attractions, local products, and tourism-related services aimed at encouraging greater collaboration within the industry.

The showcase also recognizes the support of its major partners, including the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), represented by Casino Filipino Olongapo Branch Manager Ricardo Banag on behalf of Chairman Alejandro “Al” Tengco; the Philippine Sports Commission led by Chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio; and the Tourism Promotions Board, represented by Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita “Marga” Nograles.

Running through August 1, WPITS 2026 offers visitors, tourism professionals, and business leaders the opportunity to discover the rich cultural heritage, natural attractions, and tourism experiences found across Western Philippines. More than a travel exhibition, the event serves as a venue for networking, partnerships, and discussions that support the continued growth and sustainability of the country’s tourism industry.
