SM Investments Corporation continues to gain recognition from the investment community, earning top honors from Hong Kong-based publication Alpha Southeast Asia for its commitment to corporate governance, sustainability, and financial leadership.
In the publication’s 16th Annual Poll of Southeast Asia’s Top Companies, SM Investments was named the Philippines’ Best in Strategic CSR & ESG Reporting, highlighting the company’s efforts to integrate sustainability into its business strategy and communicate its environmental, social, and governance initiatives effectively to stakeholders.
The company also secured a place among the Top Five Philippine firms for Strongest Adherence to Corporate Governance and Best Senior Management in Investor Relations Support. These distinctions reflect the confidence of investors and analysts in SM Investments’ leadership, transparency, and long-term business direction.
According to SM Investments President and Chief Executive Officer Frederic C. DyBuncio, strong governance remains fundamental to creating sustainable value. He emphasized that transparency, accountability, and sound decision-making help build trust among investors while supporting the company’s long-term growth objectives.
Alpha Southeast Asia Publisher Siddiq Bazarwala noted that companies recognized in the survey demonstrate not only a clear commitment to sustainability but also the leadership and governance structures necessary to turn those commitments into meaningful actions. He added that the awardees stand out for effectively communicating their priorities while maintaining disciplined corporate management.
Beyond the company’s institutional achievements, SM Investments also received individual recognition. Executive Vice President for Treasury, Finance and Planning Erwin G. Pato was named Best CFO in the Philippines, underscoring his role in strengthening the company’s financial management and strategic planning initiatives.
The annual survey drew participation from more than 580 investors and analysts representing Southeast Asia, the United States, and Europe. Respondents included institutional investors, fund managers, insurance firms, pension funds, private banks, and both buy-side and sell-side analysts.
Widely regarded as one of the region’s most respected perception-based surveys, Alpha Southeast Asia’s annual poll evaluates listed companies across key areas such as corporate governance, investor relations, financial management, and sustainability reporting. More than 3,000 qualified market participants were invited to take part in the survey, which was conducted from January to April 2026.
The recognition highlights how SM Investments continues to strengthen investor confidence through responsible business practices, transparent reporting, and a long-term commitment to sustainable growth. As expectations around corporate accountability continue to evolve, the company’s latest accolades reinforce its position as one of the Philippines’ leading and most trusted conglomerates.
