Amid relentless monsoon rains and the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storms Crising, Dante, Typhoon Emong, and the southwest monsoon, the SM Group has intensified its humanitarian response to aid thousands of affected Filipino families across the country.
Leading the charge is SM Foundation through its emergency response program, Operation Tulong Express (OPTE). In coordination with SM Supermalls and SM Markets, more than 18,800 Kalinga Packs—each filled with food and basic necessities—have already been distributed to flood-stricken areas. Among the hardest-hit locations that received assistance were Metro Manila, Olongapo City, Pampanga, Bataan, Rizal, Pangasinan, La Union, Cavite, Tarlac City, Laguna, and Cebu City.

With flooding disrupting daily life and displacing residents, the swift mobilization of relief goods was made possible through a strong partnership with local government units and barangay officials. Volunteers from various SM business units worked hand in hand to pack and deliver aid where it was needed most.
Cristie Angeles, AVP for Livelihood and Outreach Programs of SM Foundation, emphasized the power of collaboration: “This collective effort across the SM Group allows us to respond with urgency and heart. OPTE ensures we are present for our communities—not only during celebrations but more importantly, during their most difficult times.”

The OPTE initiative is part of SM Foundation’s broader commitment to social good. Activated during natural disasters and emergencies, it provides rapid support to SM’s host communities, reinforcing the company’s mission of inclusive and responsive corporate citizenship.
With more rainfall expected in the coming days, the SM Group is continuing its relief efforts to reach more families in need. SM Foundation assures the public that additional rounds of Kalinga Pack distributions are being prepared as part of its ongoing commitment to help communities recover and rebuild.
