Tuba Central School (TCS) in Benguet has seen remarkable improvements since receiving a two-story, four-classroom building from SM Foundation, SM Prime, and the Philippine Stock Exchange Foundation in 2019. Previously, the school struggled with overcrowded classrooms, limited resources, and a lack of a dedicated computer lab, making it challenging for students to maximize their learning potential.
With the new facility, students now have more space to focus on their studies, reducing overcrowding and creating a more comfortable learning environment. “We can focus better on studying and avoid conflicts due to cramped spaces,” shared Maria Margareth Mae Dacpano, a Grade 6 student. Additionally, access to a dedicated computer room has significantly improved research and digital literacy among learners, who previously relied on mobile phones for online resources.

School principal Jennifer Cados noted that the new classrooms have positively impacted student performance. “With more space, the learning environment became more conducive, allowing students to concentrate better. This has contributed to their academic progress,” she explained. Recent data from TCS reflects this, with many students achieving proficiency, and absenteeism rates declining.

To ensure the school remains in top condition, SM Foundation returned in 2024 to implement its School Building Maintenance Program. This included facility inspections, repairs, and repainting, ensuring a safe and well-maintained learning space for years to come.
Beyond infrastructure, the school building also supports extracurricular activities, housing a sports room for Arnis training—aligning with Benguet’s strong martial arts culture. Teachers also benefit, as access to proper resources has made it easier to conduct lessons.

Grateful for SM Foundation’s continued support, TCS remains committed to providing quality education, inspiring both students and teachers to strive for excellence.
