MR.DIY Transforms Classroom into a New Hub for Science Learning

What was once a simple, ordinary classroom has now been transformed into a vibrant space for curiosity and hands-on discovery as MR.DIY Philippines unveiled its first-ever Science Room at Ciriaco P. Tinga Elementary School in Taguig City. The project serves as the highlight of the company’s 800th Store Milestone Celebration, carrying the theme “Close to Home, Closer to Heart,” which reflects MR.DIY’s commitment to creating meaningful, community-centered initiatives that uplift Filipino families.

MR.DIY CEO Roselle B. Andaya and MR.DIY Head of Retail Marketing and C.P. Tinga Elementary School alumnus Charles Salecina led the distribution of STEM Kits containing basic school supplies and a do-it-yourself science toy kit using items found in MR.DIY.

Led by MR.DIY Chief Executive Officer Roselle B. Andaya, company executives joined school leaders and representatives from the Schools Division of Taguig and Pateros to formally unveil the Science Room’s ceremonial marker. The event marked a proud moment for the school as it received a dedicated space built to spark imagination, strengthen learning, and encourage scientific thinking among young students.

Students join in on the fun and games with a special appearance of MR.DIY’s Panda Mascot and host Mary Grace Khu.

The celebration also brought excitement to the learners, with fun games, the lively presence of MR.DIY’s panda mascot, and the distribution of MR.DIY Science Kits. The giveaway was made even more special as it was spearheaded by MR.DIY’s Head of Retail Marketing, Charles Salecina—himself an alumnus of C.P. Tinga Elementary School—who returned to his childhood campus carrying tools that would ignite new dreams for the next generation.

During her message, CEO Roselle B. Andaya expressed deep appreciation for the collaboration that made the project possible, emphasizing that the Science Room represents “what we can achieve together when we combine purpose, partnership, and a genuine desire to uplift communities.”

Representatives from MR.DIY, students and teachers from C.P.T Elementary School, DepEd representatives and partners are all smiles inside the newly refurbished MR.DIY Science Room which features new laboratory equipment and furnishing to inspire hands-on learning among students.

In September, MR.DIY volunteers took on the mission of transforming the old classroom, installing laboratory furnishings, air-conditioning units, and educational materials. They also prepared 800 Science Kits to support interactive learning both in and beyond the classroom.

For the students of C.P. Tinga Elementary School, the new Science Room symbolizes possibility—a place where experiments fuel imagination and where learning becomes an adventure. For MR.DIY, it stands as a testament to its promise to make everyday living—and learning—simple, joyful, and complete.
