Success stories are often told in moments—an exam passed, a title earned, a dream fulfilled. But for Atty. Jermagne A. Ceria, the journey to becoming a lawyer was shaped not by a single victory, but by years of quiet endurance, disciplined sacrifice, and faith carried through sleepless nights. His triumph in the 2025 Bar Examination stands as the culmination of a decade-long pursuit fueled by resilience and the life-changing support of the SM Foundation.
Growing up in Cauayan City, Jermagne’s early years were marked by uncertainty. When his parents separated during his first year of high school, responsibility arrived sooner than expected. Raised by a devoted single mother who worked as a public school teacher, he and his five siblings learned to see education not merely as an obligation, but as their strongest bridge to stability. Receiving the SM Scholarship became the turning point. It opened the door to a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at UPHS-Isabela, where he graduated in 2018 carrying both a diploma and a renewed sense of purpose. In time, that opportunity allowed him to give back—helping support his siblings’ schooling and easing the burden on his mother.

Before the courtroom, there were corporate ledgers and financial reports. Jermagne steadily built a career in finance, beginning as a Treasury Associate in his hometown and eventually rising to Treasury Supervisor. His competence soon reached international ground, leading him to roles in New Jersey, California, and later Texas, where he worked as a Finance Associate for a SaaS company. Law was not part of the original blueprint. Yet when plans to pursue an MBA fell through, a different path revealed itself—one inspired by fellow SM Scholars already thriving in law school. Seeing their progress transformed doubt into possibility, nudging him toward a new calling.
What followed was a test of stamina few would willingly choose. For four demanding years, Jermagne balanced full-time graveyard shifts with the rigorous demands of legal study. Sleep was scarce, time tightly measured, and discipline non-negotiable. Still, he not only endured—he excelled, graduating as Valedictorian of the Isabela State University College of Law, Class of 2025. His method was simple yet exacting: prepare thoroughly, follow a strict study system, and recognize that rest is not weakness but strategy. In a life governed by midnight work and daylight classes, balance became survival.

Through it all, the values nurtured during his years as an SM Scholar remained constant. Persistence, sacrifice, and an unyielding fighting spirit carried him across moments of exhaustion and doubt. More than personal ambition, his motivation was rooted in family—the hope of creating opportunities once out of reach. By lifting himself, he was lifting others with him.
Now entering the legal profession, Atty. Ceria brings with him more than academic honors. He carries the perspective of someone who understands hardship, the precision of a finance professional, and the compassion of a son determined to change his family’s story. His journey stands as quiet proof that dreams are rarely won in daylight alone—sometimes, they are forged in the stillness of midnight, one determined step at a time.
