Mega Sardines is strengthening the presence of Filipino-made products overseas as it prepares for a major nationwide expansion in the United States, marking a significant step in Mega Prime Foods Inc.’s (MPFI) global growth journey.
The Filipino brand is rolling out across approximately 2,750 stores operated by Kroger and its affiliated banners, including Mariano’s, Fry’s, Dillons, and Pick ’n Save. Products are beginning to reach shelves across the U.S., with nationwide availability targeted by mid-September 2026.

For MPFI, the expansion represents more than an opportunity to increase exports. It is part of the company’s ambition to transform Mega from a leading Philippine food name into a globally competitive Filipino brand.
“This is a very exciting time for all of us at Mega,” said MPFI CEO Michelle Chan, noting that the U.S. has been a priority market for the company. The expansion follows months of preparation, including participation in major American food shows to better understand consumer preferences.

Working with international sales partner The Turnaround Artists (TTA), Mega is also widening its footprint beyond the U.S. The company has recently entered Azerbaijan, Kenya, and Jordan, while at least 10 additional countries are currently in its development pipeline.
Marvin Tiu Lim, who leads Growth & Business Development for MPFI, said the company is looking beyond traditional exports. Its long-term strategy includes entering new markets and channels, developing partnerships, exploring acquisitions and joint ventures, and building an international platform capable of bringing Filipino brands to consumers worldwide.

The U.S. rollout also gives Mega an opportunity to reach beyond Filipino-American communities and introduce sardines to mainstream American consumers. Growing interest in sardines as a convenient source of protein and Omega-3s could further support the brand’s expansion.
Mega’s international journey traces its roots to the fishing business established by Chairman William Tiu Lim and his wife more than five decades ago. What began with a mission to provide Filipino families with affordable and nutritious food has developed into a company with global ambitions.

For the Tiu Lim family, the journey reflects Filipino pride and the belief that Philippine companies can compete internationally.
Much like Filipino athletes such as Alex Eala making their presence felt on the world stage, Mega hopes its growing international footprint will inspire pride whenever Filipinos see a homegrown brand on supermarket shelves abroad.
From Philippine fishing communities to thousands of American stores, Mega Sardines is carrying a distinctly Filipino story into a much bigger global market.
