Helping Hands on the Road

Thousands of Lalamove partner drivers across Metro Manila have started receiving much-needed financial support through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) special cash relief distribution program, offering timely assistance to drivers who continue to keep the city moving every day.

The government payout, which provides ₱5,000 in cash relief assistance to eligible transport network company (TNC) drivers, officially began on May 19 at The Tent along Gatchalian Drive in Las Piñas City. On the first day alone, more than 6,000 qualified Lalamove partner drivers successfully claimed their assistance, with the three-day activity expected to serve over 30,000 drivers by May 21.

The initiative forms part of the DSWD’s ongoing Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, specifically designed to reach drivers who had not yet received support under earlier distributions. As one of the country’s largest delivery and transport platforms, Lalamove worked closely with government agencies to ensure that eligible partner drivers would be guided properly throughout the process.

Weeks before the payout began, Lalamove coordinated extensively with the DSWD to validate partner-driver records, organize payout schedules, and prepare detailed advisories for drivers. The company rolled out announcements through multiple official channels, including the Lalamove driver app, SMS notifications, and its Liga ng Mga Bossing Facebook community, helping partner drivers stay informed about their assigned schedules and required documents.

At the payout venue, Lalamove established assistance booths and information desks to help drivers navigate the process efficiently. Onsite teams assisted with queue management, verification concerns, and general inquiries while coordinating closely with DSWD personnel handling the official distribution.

Recognizing the large volume of attendees expected during the payout period, Lalamove also worked alongside local government units, traffic enforcers, the Philippine National Police, venue administrators, and medical responders to help maintain order and ensure the safety of everyone present throughout the activity.

Beyond the cash relief distribution itself, the company also made additional support services available onsite. Food and refreshments were provided for partner drivers waiting in line, while service booths from Pag-IBIG, Hyundai, and GCash were present to address other concerns related to financing, vehicle needs, and digital transactions.

According to Lalamove Philippines Managing Director Djon Nacario, the collaboration reflects the company’s continued commitment to supporting its growing driver community.

“We are grateful to the DSWD for making sure that no eligible driver is left behind in this assistance program,” Nacario shared. “Since March, we have been coordinating closely with government agencies to ensure the payout experience remains smooth, organized, safe, and accessible for all our partner drivers.”

The payout activity for Lalamove drivers follows similar government-led distributions previously conducted for drivers from other participating transport network companies nationwide. Under the setup, DSWD oversees the official release of assistance funds, while participating companies help facilitate communication, venue coordination, and onsite support for their respective driver communities.

Meanwhile, Lalamove advised partner drivers who were unable to attend their scheduled payout dates to continue monitoring official announcements through the driver app and the Liga ng Mga Bossing Facebook page for updates and rescheduling instructions.

The company also confirmed that it remains in active coordination with DSWD regarding future payout schedules for eligible partner drivers outside Metro Manila, extending the government assistance effort to more drivers across the country.
