Happy Life Organics Supports Gov’t Campaign versus Dengue

The Philippines is currently dealing with two major health problems – the growing number of Covid-19 cases as well as a steady increase in dengue cases.

Dengue fever is endemic to Southeast Asia and the risk of transmission is highest during and immediately following the rainy season. The dengue virus is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which are found indoors and the Aedes albopictus mosquitoes that prefer to stay in shrubs and trees.

The virus enters the mosquito’s salivary gland where it incubates for eight to 10 days. Then, the mosquito can pass the virus on to the person it bites.

Happy Life Organics, a Philippine based company that promotes innovative and eco-friendly solutions for your home, pets, and unwanted pests, is one with the government in the fight against dengue

“It is that time of the year again when we see an increase in the number of dengue cases. We can protect ourselves from this and we can start doing this at home,’ said Joe Sevilla, the owner of Happy Life Organics.

Here are some tips that Sevilla shared in order to fight dengue:

  1. Keep your house clean and tidy. There are many environmentally friendly products in the market that can help keep your house clean and tidy not only to fight dengue but Covid-19 as well.
  1. Make sure that there is no stagnant water In and around the house. If you have water containers, keep them covered. Otherwise, make sure that things like pet water containers or planter dishes are cleaned on a regular basis.
  1. Wear protective clothing like long-sleeved shirts and pants especially in areas where there is a dengue outbreak.
  1. Apply mosquito repellent if you know you will be spending most of the day outdoors. Consult with your doctor first before applying any repellent on your children.
  1. Dispose of waste properly. Take out your rubbish on a regular basis as this will prevent inspects from entering your household.

“Make it a habit to go around your home at a certain time every day to make sure that there is no stagnant water and that your household garbage is disposed of properly,” he added.
