The Hapag Movement, Globe’s flagship hunger alleviation initiative, has exceeded its target a full year ahead of schedule, reaching over 120,000 Filipino families facing involuntary hunger.
Originally aiming to support 100,000 families by the end of 2025, the movement gathered remarkable momentum through the collective efforts of Globe and TM customers, corporate donors, and mobilization partners. By 2024, it had raised Php 25.37 million, pushing the total funds since its launch in 2022 to Php 53 million. This enabled the Hapag Movement to provide meals to 120,455 families struggling with food insecurity.
“The overwhelming support for the Hapag Movement reflects the dedication of individuals, businesses, and organizations that share our vision of addressing involuntary hunger in the Philippines,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “Reaching this milestone sooner than expected strengthens our resolve to expand our efforts and create lasting change.”
Since its inception, the movement has collaborated with respected partners including the Ayala Foundation, Scholars of Sustenance, Tzu Chi Foundation, and World Vision. In 2024, it expanded its reach by partnering with Rise Against Hunger, the UN World Food Programme, and Project PEARLS, bringing international attention to hunger issues in the Philippines.
The program’s success has been fueled by over 1.1 million Globe and TM subscribers, who donated Php 11.67 million worth of Rewards points through the GlobeOne app. Contributions from subscribers accounted for 23% of all aid distributed through the platform.
Additionally, 1,871 Globe employees joined the cause, participating in various activities to support the movement’s goals.
To amplify its fundraising efforts, the Hapag Movement launched creative campaigns such as the “Ibalik ang Sarap ng Pasko” drive with SMAC and the Gourmet Giving Series with Fine Dining Club Philippines, which brought together top Metro Manila restaurants for a cause. Fandom groups from Blackpink, BTS, ToyCon, and Lyropera also pitched in, showing how communities of all kinds can unite for good.
Looking ahead, the Hapag Movement plans to scale up its livelihood training programs to empower families with sustainable sources of income. It is also exploring initiatives to combat child stunting, ensuring better nutrition for Filipino children in their crucial early years.
Supporters can continue to donate via the GlobeOne app and GCash to help the movement expand its impact further.
