Government Aid Reaches Thousands of Lalamove Drivers Through Coordinated Relief Effort

Thousands of Lalamove partner drivers in Metro Manila recently received much-needed financial assistance as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) rolled out a large-scale cash relief distribution program aimed at supporting transport workers facing economic challenges.

The initiative, conducted in Las Piñas City, provided eligible Lalamove partner drivers with ₱5,000 each under the government’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program. The payout formed part of DSWD’s continuing effort to extend support to transport network company (TNC) drivers who had yet to receive government assistance.

On the first day of distribution alone, more than 6,000 Lalamove partner drivers successfully claimed their assistance at The Tent along Gatchalian Drive. The three-day payout activity was expected to benefit over 30,000 eligible drivers, making it one of the largest coordinated relief efforts for the company’s driver community.

Behind the successful rollout was months of preparation between Lalamove and DSWD. Beginning as early as March, both organizations worked closely to validate driver information, organize schedules, and ensure that eligible beneficiaries received timely updates regarding the distribution process.

Recognizing the scale of the operation, Lalamove mobilized resources to help create an organized and efficient experience for drivers. Assistance booths and information desks were established throughout the venue to help answer questions, guide beneficiaries through verification procedures, and address concerns related to the payout process.

The company also deployed onsite personnel to assist with crowd management and partner-driver support while coordinating closely with government agencies, local authorities, and venue organizers. Security and safety measures were strengthened through collaboration with local government units, traffic management personnel, the Philippine National Police, medical responders, and venue teams.

To make the experience more convenient, partner drivers were also provided food and refreshments while waiting for their turn. Additional service booths from organizations such as Pag-IBIG, Hyundai, and GCash were made available, allowing drivers to access other services and address concerns beyond the cash assistance program.

Communication played a key role in ensuring the orderly flow of beneficiaries. Eligible drivers received schedule notifications through multiple channels, including the Lalamove Driver App, SMS advisories, and the company’s Liga ng Mga Bossing Facebook community. Detailed instructions, frequently asked questions, and printed information materials were also distributed to help drivers understand the process and prepare the necessary requirements.

According to Lalamove Philippines Managing Director Djon Nacario, the company remains grateful for the government’s commitment to ensuring that transport workers receive the support intended for them.

He emphasized that Lalamove’s primary goal was to help create a safe, organized, and accessible experience for partner drivers while supporting DSWD’s efforts to deliver assistance efficiently.

The Metro Manila distribution follows similar government-led payout activities conducted for drivers from other transport network companies. Under this arrangement, DSWD oversees the official distribution process while participating TNCs assist with communications, venue coordination, and beneficiary support.

As the Metro Manila payout concludes, Lalamove continues to coordinate with DSWD regarding upcoming distributions for eligible partner drivers in other regions across the country. Through collaboration between government agencies and private-sector partners, thousands of transport workers are receiving assistance designed to help them navigate economic challenges while continuing to provide essential services to communities nationwide.
