Globe Honors Teachers as Digital Champions of Change

Globe continues to strengthen its commitment to honoring educators as it was recognized as a long-term partner of National Teachers’ Month during the 44th Annual Meeting of the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council. (From L-R) Then Metrobank Foundation Executive Vice President (now President) Philip Dy; then President (now Trustee) Aniceto Sobrepeña; Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto; and Department of Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara.

As classrooms evolve in the digital age, Globe took this year’s National Teachers’ Month (NTM) as an opportunity to celebrate educators not only as mentors but also as catalysts of innovation. From September 5 to October 5, Globe joined the Department of Education (DepEd), Metrobank Foundation Inc., and the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council (NTMCC) in paying tribute to the heroes who continue to shape the nation’s future through education and compassion.

Culminating on October 6, 2025, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the celebration carried the theme “My Teacher, My Hero.” The event, graced by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., brought together thousands of teachers, partners, and institutions, highlighting the crucial role of education in national development. Globe’s participation underscored its advocacy theme “Together 4 Teachers,” which emphasizes the company’s commitment to empowering teachers through technology, connectivity, and capacity-building initiatives.

Globe was recognized during the 44th NTM Coordination Meeting for its steadfast support to the teaching community—a partnership built on years of shared advocacy. The recognition, presented by DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara and Metrobank Foundation officials, was received by Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer.

“Teachers are not just educators—they are nation-builders,” Crisanto said. “At Globe, we aim to empower them with digital tools and skills that help them continue inspiring the next generation of leaders and innovators.”

Through programs like the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) and MakeITSafe.ph, Globe has equipped thousands of teachers and students with essential lessons on media literacy, responsible online behavior, and digital well-being. Since 2016, these initiatives have reached nearly two million students and over 115,000 teachers, strengthening Globe’s mission to make learning inclusive and future-ready.

By fostering collaboration among the public and private sectors, Globe continues to redefine how technology supports education—ensuring that Filipino teachers remain at the heart of progress, empowered to lead with purpose, resilience, and digital confidence.
