A remote village in Pangasinan has become the latest beneficiary of the country’s growing digital infrastructure as Globe, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, officially activated a new mobile connectivity site in Barangay Macaleeng, Anda.
The newly launched site represents another step toward closing the digital gap in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAs), enabling residents to access reliable mobile services for the first time.
The activation forms part of Globe’s broader commitment to support the DICT’s digital inclusion program by expanding network coverage to underserved communities nationwide. Through the initiative, the company has already brought mobile connectivity to 52 previously unserved locations while extending improved network capacity and bandwidth across 128 underserved areas. These efforts are being implemented across 180 project sites to ensure more Filipinos benefit from dependable mobile and internet services.

The inauguration gathered officials from Globe, DICT, the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, the Department of Education, local government units, community leaders, and residents. As part of the program, beneficiaries also received and activated Bayanihan SIM cards, allowing them to immediately enjoy mobile communication and digital services.
DICT Undersecretary for Support Services Heherson Asiddao described the project as a meaningful achievement in the country’s ongoing digital transformation.
He said every newly activated cell site connects more communities, reaches more families, and creates additional opportunities for people. According to Asiddao, expanding connectivity is not merely about building telecommunications infrastructure but about ensuring that where people live will not limit their access to opportunities and development.
Anda Mayor Joganie Rarang welcomed the new connectivity site, saying improved digital access will benefit students, farmers, entrepreneurs, and families throughout the municipality. He noted that stronger connectivity creates opportunities that were previously inaccessible while supporting the long-term growth and progress of the community.

For Globe, the project reflects its continuing mission to make digital services more accessible, particularly in remote areas where connectivity can significantly improve daily life.
Globe President and Chief Executive Officer Carl Cruz emphasized that communities in hard-to-reach locations are often those that stand to benefit the most from reliable mobile services. He said the company remains committed to expanding its network through technology, innovation, and partnerships to ensure that geography will never prevent Filipinos from accessing opportunities.
Reliable connectivity enables communities to take advantage of online education, digital government services, healthcare information, financial services, livelihood opportunities, and easier communication with family members and loved ones. It also supports local schools, businesses, and public services by providing dependable access to digital platforms.
The activation of the Macaleeng site demonstrates the continuing collaboration between Globe, DICT, and local government partners in bringing connectivity to underserved communities. Together, they aim to build a more inclusive digital future where more Filipinos can participate in the country’s expanding digital economy regardless of location.
