With the theme “Ginhawang Generics, Ramdam ng Bawat Pilipino,” the event underscored how generic medicines continue to make healthcare more accessible to Filipino families. It brought together health advocates, government leaders, and local communities in an effort to dispel myths about generics—reminding the public that these medicines undergo the same strict standards for safety, efficacy, and quality as branded counterparts.

In a special video message, the DOH reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring every Filipino has access to affordable treatment options, citing the Generics Act of 1988 and Cheaper Medicines Act of 2008 as key milestones in this ongoing mission. The agency urged patients to take an active role in their healthcare journey by asking for generic equivalents during consultations—a simple yet powerful step toward informed, empowered communities.

Adding the industry’s perspective, Ms. Giezel Jane Sarmiento, Marketing Head of the Pharmaceutical Business Unit of PHILUSA Corporation, emphasized how RHEA Generics continues to elevate the perception of generics in the Philippines.
