Empowering Future Leaders: SmarTrade’s Financial Literacy Initiative

National Teachers College business students listening intently to Ed Saguibo’s talk on quantitative decision making in financial wellness.

SmarTrade, a frontrunner in providing comprehensive financial education and trading insights, is actively engaging with students across the Philippines to equip them with essential skills for their future financial journeys. Recently, the company visited the National Teachers College (NTC) in Mendiola as part of its ongoing outreach program, which aims to foster financial literacy among young individuals. During the school’s “The Professional’s Playbook in Action” Leadership Series, Ed Saguibo, SmarTrade’s Head of Learning and Development, delivered an impactful talk titled “LEFT BRAIN FOCUS: Financial Precision.”

Saguibo addressed Business Administration students, focusing on “Quantitative Decision Making and Identifying Poor Decisions in Financial Choices.” This topic is increasingly relevant in today’s complex financial landscape, where informed decision-making is crucial. He emphasized that understanding data and recognizing potential pitfalls in financial behavior can significantly influence personal and business finances. “It’s not just about making smart decisions; it’s about making informed ones,” Saguibo stated, highlighting the importance of early financial education. He provided students with practical tools and real-life scenarios that they could immediately apply to their lives.

This engagement at NTC marks the third campus visit this year under SmarTrade’s P.A.R.T.N.E.R. Summit (Profitable Alliances: Reshaping Trading Networks for Endless Rewards) campaign, which is dedicated to promoting financial readiness among students and young professionals. Joyce Mayo, President and CEO of SmarTrade, expressed pride in their efforts, stating, “Education is at the core of what we do, and through our P.A.R.T.N.E.R. campaign, we aim to build a community of financially literate Filipinos. These students are the future, and it’s our role to help shape that future through opportunity and learning.”

SmarTrade’s initiative follows successful engagements at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod and the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. Each campus visit includes specialized training, mentorship, interactive sessions, and internship opportunities, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world financial challenges. These efforts have reached hundreds of students, fostering meaningful discussions about trading, investments, and potential career paths in finance.

Beyond individual sessions, SmarTrade’s school tours are part of a larger movement aimed at instilling confidence and curiosity in students regarding financial management and careers. The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to grassroots financial education and community building. Colleges and universities interested in joining the P.A.R.T.N.E.R. Summit campaign can reach out via email at [email protected].
