DigiPlus Foundation Extends Habagat Relief Across Luzon Communities

A SHOW OF SOLIDARITY. Volunteers, community members, and partners NGOs gather for a group photo during a community assistance initiative, as boxes of relief supplies stand ready for distribution. The collective effort highlights how organizations and communities can work together to extend support where it is needed most.

DigiPlus Foundation strengthened its disaster response efforts by bringing essential assistance to thousands of families affected by the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, across several flood-hit communities in Luzon.

From August 27 to September 22, the Foundation conducted five relief operations covering areas in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Pampanga, and Bulacan. Through its BayanihanPlus program, the initiative delivered much-needed supplies to communities dealing with prolonged rainfall, flooding, disrupted livelihoods, and limited access to basic necessities.

A gesture of hope and solidarity: DigiPlus Foundation Team and government employees of Pampanga hand over relief goods to community members in Pampanga, turning their commitment to giving back into meaningful support for families in need.

Relief teams distributed 3,500 packs containing rice, drinking water, and other essentials. The Foundation also provided 1,600 rice packs to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for further distribution to affected families.

The operations were undertaken in coordination with DSWD, non-government organizations, and designated local government units, helping ensure that assistance reached communities where support was urgently needed.

For families dependent on daily income, days of heavy rain can mean more than flooded streets. Work can come to a halt, transportation becomes difficult, and even purchasing food and other necessities can become a challenge.

Among those affected was Tatay Nelson, who shared how severe weather forced him to remain at home as flooding disrupted his daily routine. His experience reflected the situation of many families struggling with the economic and practical consequences of prolonged rains.

“This response reflects our commitment to standing with Filipino communities when they need support. Every family represents an opportunity to ease an immediate burden, and every relief operation reminds us of what we can accomplish when we work together with a shared purpose,” said Angela Camins-Wieneke, Executive Director of DigiPlus Foundation.

The Habagat response forms part of BayanihanPlus, one of DigiPlus Foundation’s four core programs focused on strengthening communities and supporting Filipinos during difficult times.

As the corporate social responsibility arm of DigiPlus Interactive Corporation, the Foundation carries out social impact initiatives with support from the wider DigiPlus community and its brands, including BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone.

Beyond immediate disaster relief, DigiPlus Foundation continues to work with government agencies, partner organizations, and local communities to help affected families move toward recovery and greater resilience.

With BayanihanPlus, the Foundation seeks to keep the Filipino spirit of collective action alive—bringing assistance where it is needed and reminding communities that recovery is a shared journey.

Tuloy ang pagtulong. Tuloy ang pag-asa.
