In a renewed call for unity and decisive action, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. marked this year’s Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week by urging the nation to embrace a stronger, more forward-looking approach to climate resilience. Delivered through a special video message, his call resonated not only as a reminder of the dangers the Philippines continues to face but also as a rallying point for a collective national movement.
President Marcos framed the annual observance as a moment to reflect on the country’s shared hope for a “climate-resilient and environmentally sound nation.” More than a ceremonial event, he described CCC Week as a national convergence—where policymakers, scientists, young innovators, private institutions, and local communities come together to focus on solutions and align their efforts with global climate goals.
He emphasized that building resilience requires more than awareness; it demands responsible stewardship of resources and the integration of climate intelligence into every level of planning. As Chairperson of the Climate Change Commission, the President reaffirmed his resolve to confront escalating climate risks with firm and strategic action, especially as the country continues recovering from recent disasters.
Showcasing the administration’s progress, President Marcos pointed to key government initiatives such as the National Adaptation Plan, Nationally Determined Contribution Implementation Plan, and strengthened programs in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and climate finance. These, he noted, form the backbone of a safer, more inclusive future for every Filipino.
With the theme Makabagong Kilusan Para sa Klima at Kinabukasan, he called on citizens to transform climate action into a shared national movement—one rooted in responsibility, innovation, and hope. “Climate action is not just a duty; it is an opportunity to secure a better life for the next generations,” he emphasized.
Climate Change Commission Vice Chairperson and Executive Director Robert E.A. Borje expressed gratitude for the President’s leadership, citing the significant policy milestones achieved under the current administration, including major submissions to the UNFCCC and the completion of foundational climate frameworks.
The President ended his message with a call for participation, encouraging every Filipino to take part in shaping a greener future. CCC Week, he said, stands as a reminder that safeguarding the nation’s tomorrow begins with the collective choices made today.
