In a milestone moment for the Philippine maritime sector, 2GO, the country’s leading shipping and logistics solutions provider, was honored with the first-ever Balangay Legacy Award for Domestic Shipping. The recognition, bestowed by the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers, Inc. (SONAME), marks a highlight in the 75th anniversary celebration of Philippine naval architecture and shipbuilding.

Celebrating progress rooted in history, the award takes inspiration from the ancient balangay boats—symbolic of the nation’s rich seafaring tradition—and recognizes 2GO’s exceptional contributions to modernizing inter-island sea transport. Over the years, 2GO has transformed domestic shipping through a steadfast commitment to innovation and operational excellence.

Since 2022, 2GO has strategically upgraded its fleet to better serve both passengers and cargo. Currently, it operates nine ROPAX vessels and one freighter across 19 ports spanning Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Notably, five of these ROPAX ships are counted among the country’s most advanced, offering state-of-the-art facilities and services designed to elevate the travel and shipping experience.

At the awards ceremony, which brought together industry leaders and stakeholders, Sharon Musngi-Ngo, Business Unit Head of 2GO Sea Solutions, underscored the company’s broader mission: “This award is a testament to our dedication to national development, resilience, and excellence. By continually enhancing our fleet and services, we aim to strengthen local businesses and industries through safe, efficient, and sustainable shipping solutions.”

Standing as the only RORO and ROPAX logistics provider with direct routes from Manila to key cities in Visayas and Mindanao—including newly launched routes to Davao and General Santos City—2GO continues to play a vital role in boosting regional growth and inter-island connectivity.
