In a remarkable evening devoted to promoting sustainable development, the MOSLIV Awards gathered leaders from various sectors at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila. Organized by Sustainability Standards, Incorporated (SSI), the event celebrated trailblazers advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) while urging collective action for a more sustainable future.
The MOSLIV Awards, short for “Most Sustainable and Liveable,” spotlighted initiatives that drive climate neutrality and social equity. As the world nears the midpoint of the UN SDG 2030 Agenda, the event highlighted both the strides made and the challenges that remain.
“Our experiences in recent years have fortified our commitment to approach the future with greater determination,” said SSI President and CEO Kenneth Rocete, emphasizing the resilience and preparedness needed to achieve global goals.
Honoring Sustainability Champions
The awards night emphasized shared responsibility, honoring policymakers, entrepreneurs, and innovators who have made significant contributions to sustainability. Each honoree represented a vital piece of the collective effort required to address climate change, foster equity, and ensure future generations’ well-being.
Among the distinguished awardees were:
- Hon. Dakila Carlo E. Cua, Awarded Governor of the Year – for his role in enhancing governance and institutional resilience as ULAP – National President; LPP – National Chairman and Governor, Province of Quirino
- Atty. Saul Paulo A. Lazo, Awarded Board Member of the Year – for his innovative local resolutions and ordinances pushing for the strong governance strategies that integrate sustainability principles as the National Chairman of National Movement for Young Legislators (NMYL) and as the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member of Ilocos Norte
- Hon. Handy T. Lao, Awarded Public Servant if the Year Excellence in Peace and Nation Building – for its initiatives in eco-conscious Philippine Councilor League as it’s National President and legislations uplifting the local e-commerce and trade for Laoag City
- Hon. Maria Katrina Jessica Gallegos-Dy, Awarded Honorary Public Servant of the Year Excellence in Peace and Nation Building for her role in enhancing countryside development and Barangay e-governance as the Liga ng Barangay – National President
- Hon. Bernard “Ninong” C. Dela Cruz , Awarded Honorary Public Servant of the Year Excellence in Peace and Nation Building – for his project initiatives creating economic dynamism and resolution adopting SDG’s to all City and Municipal Vice Mayor as the National Chairman of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines (VMLP)
The private sector also made its mark, with individuals like Catherine Florine Sollano-Cusi of Aqua Technologies and James P. Amparo of Yovel East Research & Development recognized for pioneering sustainability in their industries.
Inspiring Collective Action
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. underscored the need for unified efforts, urging every citizen to contribute to the fight against climate change and inequality. He commended the awardees as role models who embody the leadership needed to achieve meaningful progress.
The MOSLIV Awards served not only as a platform for recognition but as a call to action, encouraging individuals to embrace sustainable practices and actively participate in civic programs. “These awards build momentum for a future where sustainability is at the heart of every decision,” Rocete concluded.
