Savoring Bicol: A Culinary Journey at WanderMart

Experience the vibrant culture and flavors of the Bicol Region this August 15 to 17 at the WanderMart: Travel & Lifestyle Expo, hosted at the luxurious Crystal Pavilion of Okada Manila. This exciting event is set to showcase the best of Bicol through Orgullo Kan Bicol (OKB), the region’s premier trade fair, which will feature an array of unique offerings from over 52 talented local entrepreneurs.

WanderMart aims to unite more than 140 travel and lifestyle brands, providing a platform for Bicol’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to engage directly with consumers and retailers from Metro Manila and beyond. This collaboration is made possible through the efforts of Okada Manila, Silk Events Management, and support from the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board.

Visitors will be treated to an exquisite selection of Bicolano delicacies, including gourmet bottled foods, pili nut treats, and traditional snacks. The expo will also spotlight stunning home décor and fashion accessories crafted from indigenous materials like abaca and buri, showcasing the region’s rich artisanal heritage.

One of the highlights of the event will be live cooking demonstrations featuring renowned Bicolano chefs and culinary innovators. Attendees can watch as beloved local dishes like Bicol Express and laing are prepared right before their eyes, using authentic ingredients that will be available for purchase on-site.

“This year’s participation at the WanderMart is a remarkable opportunity for us to promote local businesses and elevate the appreciation for Bicol’s distinct products,” said Mr. Dindo G. Nabol, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry in Region V.

Ms. Erika Pereña, President of the OKB Association and owner of C.O.P. Pili Sweets and Pastries, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the pride and creativity of Bicolanos. “Our products can confidently stand alongside national and international brands. We are eager to share our heritage and stories through our locally-made offerings,” she stated.

Supporting the logistics of the event is FAST Logistics Group, ensuring that all products arrive safely and efficiently. “We are committed to helping local entrepreneurs grow by connecting their products to new markets,” said Mr. Manuel L. Onrejas Jr., CEO of FAST Logistics.
