Summer in Boracay takes on a new dimension as Boracay Newcoast launches its first-ever Kite Festival from April 27 to 29 at Cove 2. Set against the island’s signature coastal views, the three-day event transforms the shoreline into a canvas of color, movement, and creativity. Designed as a family-friendly celebration, the festival invites both seasoned enthusiasts and curious first-timers to experience the joy of kite flying—whether by joining competitions, exploring interactive installations, or simply watching the sky come alive. With immersive art displays and photo-worthy setups across the grounds, the event offers a refreshing way to welcome the summer season.

At the heart of the festival is “High Above: The Grand Kite Competition,” where participants showcase their craftsmanship and flying skills through flat kites, 3D figures, and geometric designs, competing for cash prizes and recognition. Adding to the spectacle is a special exhibition by the Kite Association of the Philippines, led by renowned kite master Cris Rosales, whose intricately designed creations highlight both artistry and cultural heritage. Beyond the performances, guests can join hands-on workshops like kite-making and “Kite Flying 101,” making the experience both educational and engaging for families and young participants.

The celebration extends beyond the skies, offering visitors a complete summer escape within Boracay Newcoast. Guests can enjoy curated hotel packages from Belmont Hotel Boracay, Savoy Hotel Boracay Newcoast, and Chancellor Hotel Boracay, which include breakfast, shuttle services, and water activities—making it easier to immerse in the festivities. According to Sonny Alvaro, the festival introduces a fresh attraction that not only enriches the island’s tourism landscape but also supports local businesses and sustains visitor interest year after year.

To complete the experience, a kite photography competition and curated photo exhibit allow guests to relive the most memorable moments of the event. Participation is made simple—visitors only need to present proof of purchase from any Boracay Newcoast establishment or a hotel keycard to join the activities. More than just a festival, the Boracay Newcoast Kite Festival signals a vibrant new tradition—one that celebrates creativity, community, and the timeless magic of watching kites dance across an open summer sky.
