Momentum is building around the 2026 Philippine Golf Championship as the tournament unfolds with renewed energy, strengthened by the presence of BingoPlus as its official sponsor. Even before the first competitive drives of the main event, anticipation was already in the air at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club in Manila, where the Philippine Golf Tour opened the festivities with a lively Pro-Am tournament that gathered 164 players from across the region.

Blending professionals and amateurs on the same fairways, the showcase offered more than warm-up competition. It created a shared space where experience met aspiration, and where the spirit of golf—defined by discipline, patience, and camaraderie—could be felt throughout an entire day of play. By sunset, two teams had risen above the field. In the morning session, Travis Smyth, Sofia Araneta, Hannah See, and Stewart Plinbundo secured top honors, while the afternoon spotlight belonged to Angelo Que, JJ Atencio, Mika Arroyo, and Noel Estrella, whose performance completed a day marked by friendly rivalry and mutual respect.

For DigiPlus Interactive Corp. Lead Independent Director Ramon Dizon, the occasion symbolized something deeper than a ceremonial start. He described BingoPlus’ involvement as a meaningful investment in Philippine sport—one that reflects the platform’s broader commitment to nurturing local talent and expanding opportunities for golf to flourish in the country. Speaking during the awarding rites, Dizon praised the dedication and sportsmanship displayed by every participant, underscoring how events like the Pro-Am help sustain enthusiasm for the game while strengthening its community.

Celebration accompanied competition throughout the gathering. Champions received premium golf equipment in recognition of their achievement, while raffle prizes ensured excitement extended well beyond the leaderboard. Thoughtful giveaways—from golf caps and sleeves to handheld turbo fans—meant that every participant carried home a reminder of the day’s shared experience, reinforcing the inclusive atmosphere that defined the tournament’s opening chapter.

The energy seamlessly carried into the championship proper, which teed off on February 5 with 144 competitors chasing a substantial $500,000 prize purse. With strong participation, vibrant fan engagement, and committed support from partners like BingoPlus, the 2026 Philippine Golf Championship is steadily shaping into more than a sporting contest. It is becoming a celebration of excellence, community, and the enduring promise of Philippine golf on a larger stage.
