Where Small Smiles Become Shared Hope

On an ordinary day in Malate, something quietly extraordinary unfolded. Laughter filled the air, crayons moved with purpose, and stories took shape through lines and colors—all driven by a simple belief: that when people come together, hope grows stronger. This was the spirit behind Canon Marketing Philippines’ Kyosei CSR Day with Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry, Inc. (KSEM), a non-profit organization devoted to protecting and nurturing children in vulnerable situations.

Rooted in Canon’s Kyosei philosophy—living and working together for the common good—the initiative transformed a single day into a meaningful shared experience. Seventy children from KSEM were joined by 30 Canon employee volunteers, not as hosts and beneficiaries, but as companions in creativity, learning, and joy. The gathering focused on more than providing meals or activities; it created a space where children felt seen, heard, and celebrated.

At the heart of the day was the “Draw Your Big Smile” activity. With guidance from Canon volunteers, children illustrated moments that made them happiest—family, dreams, friendships, and simple joys. Each drawing told a personal story, revealing resilience and imagination that went far beyond the page. These artworks later formed the Wall of Big Smiles, a collective portrait of optimism and courage.

To make the memories tangible, a photo booth captured each child proudly holding their artwork. The instant printed photos became cherished keepsakes—small tokens that carried big meaning. For many, it was a rare moment to see their creativity honored and preserved.

Canon Marketing Philippines President and CEO Anuj Aggarwal reflected on the purpose behind the initiative: “At Canon, progress is not just about innovation—it’s about uplifting lives. Through partnerships like this, we hope to spark joy and inspire children to believe in brighter futures.”

The Kyosei CSR Day is part of Canon’s broader 2025 community efforts, which include environmental programs and youth-focused initiatives nationwide. Together, these activities reflect the company’s enduring commitment to social responsibility and its promise of “Delighting You Always.”
