When Compassion Travels: Globe Coop CAREavan Reaches Young Hearts in Pampanga

Hearts in Hands at work: Globe Coop CAREavan volunteers prepared and delivered personalized gift bundles to uplift the children at DSWD RSCC Pampanga.

In a quiet corner of Lubao, Pampanga, kindness arrived not as a one-time donation, but as a shared experience shaped by empathy, time, and human connection. Through its Hearts in Hands initiative, Globe Coop volunteers visited the DSWD Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), transforming an ordinary day into a moment of comfort and reassurance for orphaned children under state care.

The activity formed part of the Globe Coop CAREavan, an employee-led outreach program that mobilizes Globe teams across regions to respond to the unique needs of vulnerable communities. From special children and teen mothers to fisherfolk, out-of-school youth, students, and indigenous groups such as the Mangyan and Aeta, CAREavan initiatives are designed to create meaningful, localized impact—guided by the people closest to the communities they serve.

For the Pampanga visit, Globe Coop employees from North Luzon came together to prepare more than 100 personalized gift bundles. Each package was thoughtfully assembled to reflect both care and practicality, combining daily essentials with items meant to bring comfort and joy. School and art supplies, clothing basics, hygiene kits, age-appropriate toys, storybooks, and soft blankets were carefully chosen to meet the children’s needs while also nurturing their sense of security.

What made each bundle truly special, however, were the handwritten letters tucked inside. Volunteers took time to write personal messages of encouragement—simple words meant to remind each child that they are valued, seen, and remembered by a community beyond the center’s walls.

Beyond distributing gifts, the volunteers spent time engaging with the children alongside RSCC staff. Laughter filled the space through games, shared activities, and casual conversations that allowed trust to form naturally. These moments of interaction reinforced the initiative’s deeper purpose: supporting emotional well-being, not just physical needs.

“For many children, knowing that someone took time to think of them makes a lasting difference,” shared Business Head Racquel Marcelo. “Hearts in Hands is about showing them that a caring community believes in their future.”

Through initiatives like this, Globe Coop continues to demonstrate how employee-driven compassion can strengthen communities—one connection, one child, and one heartfelt gesture at a time.
