We Support of their Dreams
The aim of Chooks-to-Go in all its sports endeavors is to find talent and nurture it. We don’t give up.
That is why we are fully supporting Kobe Paras in his second go to pursue his dreams of playing basketball at the world’s highest levels. In his case, the National Basketball Association of the US.
Over a week ago, we bid him farewell and Godspeed. We will support his journey with East-West Private (EWP) as we have, and are still supporting Kai Sotto, in his own quest for the ultimate field of dreams in their sport.
We do not expect such endeavors to be easy. In fact, we expect it to be hard and fraught with challenges that will not only test the abilities of our young talents but also their character.
Young talents like Kai and Kobe grow under the spotlight of public scrutiny beyond basketball to include every aspect of their personal lives. It is particularly difficult because this is also the most sensitive stage in their transition from boys into young men, and on towards full adult maturity.
We shall support Kobe and Kai, even if they stumble, for as long as they never give up. This is the meaning of our commitment.
Excellence is won not by timidity but by the audacity of spirit.
Kobe and Kai are our poster boys of talent and grit. In their struggles, we wish to inspire all Filipinos to pursue their dreams and create new possibilities for themselves, in whatever choice of the field they wish to play in their lives, through sheer effort and determination.
We pick basketball because of Filipinos’ unequaled passion for the game and its potential for transforming the nation’s spirit.
Show us the talent, and the will, and we shall help find the way.
Some people entertain ideas that Kobe and Kai will never make it to NBA. They may or may not, but that is not the point. No one achieves without trying. True excellence is not a medal. It is a quality of mind and spirit. In short, it is the character, and that is what we are building.
The nation’s dream of basketball glory is too important to be left to the tired, the timid, and the selfish, business-as-usual interests that has impoverished the sport by letting budding talents to wither in the vine.
Chooks supports the dream and the dreamers because, as a wise man once said, ‘Without them, man will still be living in caves.’
