We Play As One!  Filipinos Deserve No Less Than Gold

The Doha Masters opens FIBA’s 2020 3×3 World Tour hostilities in Qatar.

The Doha Masters is an emerging, new feature of global basketball today, leading to the 3×3’s grand debut in the rescheduled Olympics next year. It is testimony to the format’s growing global appeal and popularity.

We picked the name Manila Chooks TM for the Philippine team because only world cities are allowed to compete in the Doha Masters.

The team earned the right to represent the entire country after emerging champions in the recently concluded 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3’s first-ever tournament bubble powered by TM.

Manila is the nation’s first and most famously identifiable Filipino city. It is ground zero of Philippine history.

No other city in the country captures our story as a nation, and the unity in our diversity as a people, better than the City of Manila.

It’s story of rebirth and resurgence after every historic calamity is the story of our resilience, our determination as a people to take its place among the greatest cities of the world, and the proudest nations on earth.

Ronald Daniel Ricaforte Mascariñas, Coach Aldin Ayo and Mayor Isko Moreno

No other city can better represent the best in us and better deserves to represent the best in us than the capital of the Philippines.

Manila was once the fabled transshipment point of trade between the old Silk Road and silver of the New World, making it once, one of the world’s most prosperous and, definitely, its first truly global city.

By naming our team after Manila, we join our quest for a return to Olympic basketball glory after an absence of almost half-a-century with the City’s own amazing resurgence under its new, dynamic leadership and together, we hope to lift the entire nation with us.

This time, neither silk nor silver will be enough. We shall go for gold!

Coach Aldin Ayo: Beyond the Talent, Why We Believe in the Man

He takes over as head coach of Manila Chooks TM, and is expected to bring our top professional 3×3 team his championship brand of heart-stopping basketball “mayhem,” tactical savvy, and never-say-die spirit in both local and international competitions.

Coach Ayo is the most decorated coach in collegiate basketball today. As former coach of the Letran Knights and the DLSU Green Archers, he is the only coach to win back to back championships in both the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the nation’s premiere collegiate basketball leagues.

Most remarkably, he won the NCAA title for Letran without a foreign player reinforcement.

This is exactly the kind of “giant killer” mentality and smarts from a home-grown coach we need in Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3, the nation’s first 3×3 professional league.

We share with Coach Aldin our dreams of redemption of, and in Philippine basketball. We aim to rouse it back to the Olympics after almost half-a-century of fitful sleep.

As one of the nations’ youngest and best coaches, coach Aldin has demonstrated grace and resilience through his personal journey in the ups and downs of Philippine basketball. He is a man seen so much. He is often blooded and bruised but never bowed down by neither triumph nor tribulation.

These are qualities we share in Chooks-to-Go and our professional 3X3 league. And this is why, beyond the talent, we also believe in the man. Perhaps, more so.

With coach Aldin, we look forward to even more exciting days ahead as 3×3 basketball continues to take the nation by storm and debuts on the world stage in the coming Olympics.

See you all there.

Once again, stick with us. The best is yet to come!
