The Italian Film Festival in Manila 2022 Returns to the Cinema

Over the past years, Italian Cinema in Manila has been a great success through film festivals, various events, and online screenings. Finally, after two years in the pandemic, the Italian Film Festival in Manila will be back on the silver screens. It will be on September 29 to October 02 at the Venice Cineplex of Venice Grand Canal Mall in McKinley Hill, Taguig City.

The Italian Film Festival in the Philippines is part of a large project granted by the Italian Ministry for Culture, with the support of the Italian Embassy in Manila, the collaboration of the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the Philippine Italian Association, Venice Cineplex, Venice Grand Canal Mall, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Meridian International Business, Arts and Technology College, De La Salle University Manila, Lyceum University of the Philippines Cavite, Ponte Rialto Ristorante Italiano, Association of European Studies Students of Ateneo de Manila University, UP Euro-Filipino Understanding and Relations Organization, and the endorsement of media partners like the Philippine Business and News and Art+ Magazine, and also student media organizations like The Laurel Standard and The LaSallian.

The Italian Film Festival will feature seven latest films that will take place at the Venice Cineplex, Venice Grand Canal Mall at McKinley Hill, Taguig, from September 29 to October 02; the cultured 3/19 by Silvio Soldini, which deals with the theme of immigration with particular; A CHIARA, a beautiful second work by Jonas Carpignano; the eccentric comedy IL SILENZIO GRANDE / The Great Silence by Alessandro Gassmann; L’ARMINUTA / The Return, a film that cinephiles will enjoy, Giuseppe Bonito, awarded in festivals all over the world; AMERICA LATINA, the third original work by D’Innocenzo brothers, which displays a disturbing portrait of the Italian countryside; then in the best tradition of Italian Cinema, there will be two entertaining comedies, UNA NOTTE DA DOTTORE by Guido Chiesa and, LASCIARSI UN GIORNO A ROMA / Breaking Up In Rome by Edoardo Leo.

On the opening night (September 29), there will be one film screening; on September 30 and October 01, there will be two screenings on each day (both in the late afternoon and evening); and on the last day (October 02), the two screenings will be both in the afternoon.

MINT College will be fully involved in the festival as they will document the whole duration of the festival and manage some short lectures after the screenings. A special screening will also be held at two universities participating in the Italian Film Festival.

The first special screening will be held on September 28 at Lyceum University of the Philippines Cavite, and the second special screening will be held on September 30 at De La Salle University Manila.

All screenings will be available to the general public (first-come, first-served basis) and are free of charge.
