The Call Of The Times:  Teacher As Life Coach

The Call Of The Times:  Teacher As Life Coach

2020 has brought almost every individual with the situation of uncertainty like loss of jobs, inability to move freely, the fear of getting sick and worst, death.

The “NEW NORMAL”  hampered the delivery of learning processes.  It meant educational institutions have to deliver their teachings in a different platform. The classrooms were substituted with laptops and tablets, mentored by the educators at a distance.  It paved the way for parents to become fully involved in the learning system.

Pasig City is not exempted from all of these,  just like the rest of the cities, provinces, municipalities in our country.

The Local Government of Pasig, through  City Mayor Vico Sotto and Education Committee Chairperson, Coun. Corie  M. Raymundo,  have realized the various challenges that the teachers are facing.  This has resulted in added workload, causing added loads, not to mention the students’ and parents’ concerns like the adaptability on this  New Normal,  and the pressure on the part of the parents who also are WORKING  FROM THEIR HOMES. Looking at this scenario, the various problems brought about by this pandemic,  possible solutions have to be addressed and considered.

With the utmost concern for our teachers, parents  and students, stakeholders initiated a series of meetings, focus group discussions, presentations on the scenario of Teacher Life Coach.

The Local Government of Pasig City, thru the Education Committee, in cooperation with the  Pasig Elementary School Alumni Association, Rizal High School Governing Council and the Department of Education, Division of Pasig City in collaboration with IHELP COACHING AND BUSINESS SOLUTIONS, INC., through IHELP MOBILE CITY CENTER  Pasig, https://www.facebook.com/iHelpPasig, with its City Director AIDA M. MANASAN, came up with training modules for all PUBLIC ELEMENTARY  and HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS to become CERTIFIED LIFE SKILLS and  SELF DISCOVERY  COACHES. As Certified  Life Coaches, they will be taught skills and protocols necessary to assist, deliver and empower each person (educators, students, parents, co-workers), with the objective of getting the best potential of each person.

With this in mind, struggles and stressors will be addressed with the right approach, using life coaching skills and tools, empowering and unleashing their God-given potentials, in the hope that they will see the effects of the pandemic in a better perspective. , in all aspects especially in the field of EDUCATION.

IHELP COACHING AND BUSINESS  SOLUTIONS INC., through iHelp Mobile City Center Pasig, will work to assist, mentor and support each Teacher Life Coach, sponsored by the LGU,  with continuous programs and activities,  to better equip them with further skills to deliver life skills coaching.  Inclusion of the program are five certifications, Certified Life Skills & Self Discovery Coach, CertifiedLife Skills & Self Discovery Master, Certified High Impact Inspirational Speaker, Certified Life Skills and Self Discovery Coach Workshop Facilitator and IHELP Certified Digital Course Creator.

The Teacher Life Coach (TLC) collaboration will start in early 2021 with an initial 500 teachers as participants from a total teacher population of around 5,000 in Pasig City.
