Telling Stories That Inspire Change: SM Foundation Shines at Asia-Pacific Stevie® Awards

SM Foundation, the social good arm of the SM Group, has once again proven the power of communication in creating lasting impact, bringing home two prestigious awards from the 2025 Asia-Pacific Stevie® Awards held in Seoul, South Korea. The recognition affirms the foundation’s effective use of storytelling to drive development and social change across communities.

The foundation earned the Silver Stevie® Award for Innovation in Community Relations or Public Service Communications, alongside a Bronze Stevie® Award for Innovation in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Videos. These awards underscore the foundation’s ability to convey powerful messages that highlight the essence of community-building and sustainable progress.

Known for honoring business innovation across 29 Asia-Pacific countries, the Stevie® Awards are a benchmark for excellence in diverse fields. This year’s recognition places SM Foundation among the region’s top communicators in sustainability and corporate citizenship, emphasizing their creative and impactful communication strategies.

Representing the foundation at the awards ceremony were Victor Persius Chan, SM Investments Senior Assistant Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, and Assistant Communications Manager Rheza Candelaria. Chan accepted the honors on behalf of SM Foundation Executive Director Debbie Sy, expressing gratitude for the continued support from partners and communities.

“In every initiative, we strive to tell stories that uplift, connect, and inspire,” Chan shared during the event. “Development communication is a powerful tool, and through our storytelling efforts, we aim to spark meaningful connections and sustainable action among diverse stakeholders.”

The foundation’s communication approach goes beyond public relations—it champions advocacy. From promoting education and health to supporting disaster response, livelihood, and agriculture, SM Foundation uses multimedia content to shine a light on the resilience and hope within Filipino communities.

“These awards are not just a recognition of our work, but a tribute to the communities we serve and the partners who walk with us in our mission,” Chan added. “It’s their stories that fuel our passion and keep us moving forward.”

As SM Foundation continues to expand its impact, these accolades serve as both a milestone and a motivation. By elevating development communications, the foundation reaffirms its commitment to building a better, more inclusive future for all.
