Huang, Chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA); Chin-Tsang Ho, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs; Wallace Minn-Gan Chow, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines; Stanley K. Ng, Undersecretary of the Department of Tourism; and Bryan L. Ang, Vice President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

Taiwan Expo 2026 opened at the SMX Convention Center Manila, bringing together 125 Taiwanese companies and a broad range of technologies aimed at supporting the Philippines’ push for digital transformation, industrial modernization, sustainable energy, improved healthcare, and more productive agriculture.

Running from September 17 to 19, the three-day exhibition showcases solutions in artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, renewable energy, healthcare, agriculture, food technology, consumer products, and smart-city development. The event also provides a platform for Taiwanese companies to meet Philippine businesses, distributors, institutions, and potential investment partners.

The growing Philippine digital economy is creating new opportunities for advanced technologies. Exhibitors are presenting Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), AI-powered visual recognition, collaborative robotics, industrial monitoring, smart security, automation, and transportation solutions. Renewable-energy technologies, including energy storage, management systems, solar solutions, and decentralized power technologies, are also being highlighted.

Healthcare is another major focus, with the Smart Medical Pavilion featuring medical devices, biotechnology, regenerative medicine, and healthcare services. Meanwhile, agricultural exhibitors are presenting automation, autonomous farming equipment, livestock environmental controls, food processing, preservation, and packaging technologies designed to help improve productivity.

According to Mr. Wallace M. G. Chow, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO), Taiwan and the Philippines have a strong foundation for expanding economic cooperation because of their geographic proximity and long-standing people-to-people connections. He described the Philippines’ young population, large domestic market, and growing economy as important advantages for Taiwanese companies seeking to diversify their operations amid changes in global supply chains.

Chow highlighted opportunities in electronics, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, smart healthcare, smart cities, agriculture technology, and talent development. He also pointed to the large Filipino community working in Taiwan as an important connection between the two economies.

“The Philippines is our closest neighbor, and our two peoples are very familiar with each other. Because of our historical ties and geographic proximity, Taiwanese companies see the Philippines as one of the best opportunities for diversifying their operations,” Chow said. “I anticipate that our trade, investment, and economic relationship will grow stronger and stronger, particularly in semiconductors, advanced technologies, talent development, and innovation.”

Taiwan Expo 2026 also strengthens business-to-business engagement through industry forums, including the inaugural Taiwan-Japan-Philippines Industrial Cooperation Forum, where companies are exploring collaboration in green energy, smart cities, electronics, and other technology-driven industries.

Organized by Taiwan’s International Trade Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, the expo reflects a broader direction in Taiwan-Philippines economic relations: moving beyond traditional trade toward deeper partnerships in technology, investment, innovation, and industrial development.
