As public schools across the country prepared for the opening of another school year, SMDC Nature joined the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela 2026 by encouraging employees to take part in community volunteer activities that helped create cleaner, safer, and more welcoming learning spaces.
Employee volunteers from SMDC Nature’s headquarters, together with teams from its projects in Cagayan de Oro and Iloilo, participated in the initiative across communities surrounding Charm Residences, Spring Residences, Glade Residences, and Vail Residences. Working hand in hand with teachers, parents, school personnel, and fellow community volunteers, they helped clean school grounds and carry out minor improvements in shared facilities used daily by students and educators.
Beyond volunteer work, SMDC Nature also donated cleaning supplies and learning materials to support schools in maintaining functional and organized environments throughout the school year. These contributions were intended to complement the efforts of educators and local communities in ensuring that campuses remain conducive to learning.
Rather than focusing assistance on a specific classroom, the company adopted a broader approach that recognized the importance of maintaining common areas that benefit the entire school population. Shared facilities such as hallways, school grounds, and other communal spaces play a vital role in creating an environment where students, teachers, and visitors feel comfortable and safe.

Through Brigada Eskwela, our employees had the opportunity to work directly with teachers, parents and local volunteers to help create spaces where the entire school community can begin the year with greater readiness and confidence,” said Susan G. The volunteer activities, held in June, also reflected the company’s commitment to building stronger relationships with communities surrounding its residential developments. By participating in Brigada Eskwela, employees were able to engage directly with local stakeholders while contributing to a nationwide initiative that promotes shared responsibility in education.
