Sun Life, a prominent player in the global financial services sector, recently commemorated a significant milestone: the 25th anniversary of its listing on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE). This momentous occasion was marked by a ceremonial bell ringing, highlighting Sun Life’s enduring presence and impact in the Philippines.

The event brought together key figures from Sun Life, including Manjit Singh, President of Sun Life Asia; David Broom, Chief Client and Distribution Officer of Sun Life Asia; and Benedict Sison, CEO and Country Head of Sun Life Philippines. They were joined by distinguished guests from the PSE, such as Ramon Monzon, President and CEO; Atty. Roel Refran, Chief Operating Officer; and other notable stakeholders.

In his address, Singh spoke passionately about the significance of the anniversary. “Today, we celebrate not just our 25 years on the Philippine Stock Exchange, but also 130 years of our journey in the Philippines. From our humble beginnings in Canada, we have grown into a global financial powerhouse, driven by our mission to help our Clients achieve brighter financial futures,” he stated.

Ramon Monzon acknowledged Sun Life’s longstanding commitment to the nation, remarking, “Sun Life’s remarkable 25-year journey in the local stock market reflects its dedication to the Philippines, its Clients, and stakeholders. We look forward to many more successful years ahead.”

As the clock struck 9:30 AM, Singh and Monzon rang the PSE’s ceremonial bell, officially signaling the start of trading for the day. This tradition not only marks the opening of the market but also serves to celebrate significant achievements within the financial community.

Since its initial public offering in 2000, Sun Life has been instrumental in promoting financial literacy and enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities across the Philippines. The company has invested in various corporate social responsibility initiatives that align with its mission of fostering financial security and well-being.

The bell-ringing ceremony, a cherished tradition in global finance, served as a dual celebration for Sun Life: a reflection on its impressive 25 years in the PSE and a renewed commitment to its vision for the future. As Sun Life looks ahead, it remains dedicated to its purpose of empowering individuals and families to live healthier, more financially secure lives.
