In a bold move beyond real estate, SM Development Corporation (SMDC) has pledged ₱100 million over the next three years to support the National Museum, reinforcing its dedication to cultural preservation and accessibility. This landmark investment will fund structural enhancements, conservation efforts, and expanded educational programs, ensuring that the country’s rich history remains alive for future generations.

“ SMDC, we believe in building more than just homes—we strive to create communities that inspire and uplift,” said Grace M. Sta. Ana, SMDC Executive Vice President and Head of Core Operations. “Through this partnership, we reaffirm our responsibility to safeguard and promote Filipino heritage.”

A portion of the funding will go toward restoring key museum spaces, preserving priceless artifacts, and enhancing visitor experiences. These improvements align with SMDC’s broader vision of integrating culture into modern urban living.

Bringing Culture Closer to Communities
SMDC is also extending its cultural commitment through its Bayside Living developments in the MOA Complex and Roxas Boulevard. By placing communities within walking distance of cultural landmarks like the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Rizal Park, Intramuros, and the National Museum Complex, SMDC fosters a deeper appreciation for the arts and history among its residents.

More than just proximity, SMDC is actively supporting cultural events, exhibitions, and educational initiatives, ensuring that urban dwellers remain connected to the nation’s heritage.

A New Benchmark for Corporate Engagement in Culture
With this multi-year initiative, SMDC is setting a new standard for corporate involvement in heritage conservation. Beyond funding restoration projects, it is working closely with museum officials and cultural experts to develop programs that make history and the arts more accessible to Filipinos of all ages.
SM Supermalls is also playing a key role by using its vast network to promote cultural awareness. Through marketing campaigns, digital platforms, and on-ground activities, SM Supermalls will help expand the reach of the National Museum’s exhibits and programs, allowing more Filipinos to engage with their history.
By bridging real estate development with cultural preservation, SMDC is proving that modern progress and heritage conservation can go hand in hand—ensuring that the stories of the past remain an integral part of the country’s future.
