SMDC Paints the Night Blue: A Beacon of Hope for Mental Health

Long before the Christmas lights took over the skyline, shades of blue illuminated the Mall of Asia Complex on October 10 — not for festivity, but for empathy. As evening fell, the façades of SMDC and SM Offices properties glowed in brilliant blue hues, standing as symbols of support for World Mental Health Day and everyone facing unseen struggles.

The powerful visual statement was a united effort by the TADS Sales Engagement (SE) team, SM Offices, and SMDC Services Corporation, in partnership with the Philippine Mental Health Association, Inc. Through the nationwide Light Up Blue campaign, five ECom buildings and the iconic SM Mall of Asia itself turned into luminous reminders that mental wellness matters as much as physical health.

Across the MOA Globe, the message shone bright — “We Shine Blue for Mental Health.” The spectacle drew hundreds of passersby who paused to take photos, post on social media, and reflect on the message behind the glow. What began as a simple lighting display quickly evolved into a collective act of awareness, sparking conversations about kindness, self-care, and emotional well-being.

While SM’s properties are often known for dazzling Christmas displays that signal the start of the holiday season, SMDC chose a quieter, more meaningful illumination this time — one that urged everyone to pause before the celebrations and check in on themselves and others.

Because at the heart of every bright light is a message that truly matters: before we spread holiday cheer, let’s remember to spread compassion.
