The SM Group, through SM Development Corporation (SMDC), has partnered with Globe to launch the #SeniorDigizen campaign, a program designed to help elderly residents safely and confidently navigate the digital world. Piloted at Grass Residences in Quezon City, the initiative offers free, tailored lessons on cybersecurity, fintech tools like GCash, and telehealth services such as KonsultaMD.
This program addresses a pressing need, as senior citizens are often vulnerable to digital fraud, which cost victims over PHP 155 million in 2023. By equipping seniors with practical skills, #SeniorDigizen fosters a safer, more inclusive online experience while strengthening community bonds.
Jessica Bianca ‘Jica’ T. Sy, Vice President of SM Prime and SMDC, highlighted the initiative’s impact: “Our goal is to empower seniors with the tools they need to thrive in a digital age. This program also reflects our broader commitment to nurturing vibrant, inclusive communities.”
The initiative’s success was evident in Grass Residences, home to a significant senior population. Participants like 76-year-old Connie Cailles appreciated the patience and dedication of the program’s staff, sharing, “They are so attentive and kind, unlike relatives who sometimes feel obligated. Here, we feel truly cared for.”
Grass Residences Board Treasurer Elbert Mozo noted the program’s popularity: “This had the highest senior attendance we’ve seen. Participants are eager to learn, and I’m confident more will join in the future.”

The campaign is part of SM’s broader efforts to support seniors, complementing programs such as the Emergency Preparedness Forum and Walk for Life parade under SM Cares. With plans to expand #SeniorDigizen to other communities, SMDC and Globe continue to champion initiatives that uplift and empower the elderly, making technology an ally in their daily lives.
