SM Supermalls Marks 1 Millionth Jab

SM Supermalls administered its one-millionth COVID-19 vaccine dose during its ceremonial 1 millionth Jab event at the SM Mega Trade Hall on Wednesday, July 14.

The event, which also marked a major milestone for SM Supermalls as the first single partner of the government to reach a million jabs, was attended by SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Sec. Vince Dizon, MMDA Chairman Benjamin Abalos Jr., Mandaluyong Mayor Carmelita Abalos, and McDonald’s Philippines Managing Director Margot Torres who represented the Task Force T3 (Test, Trace and Treat) consortium.

“Today, we’ve reached a million doses and though this may seem like a small portion of the country’s goal, it’s a big step towards putting an end to this pandemic. This achievement was made possible thanks to the hard work of our healthcare workers, the persistence of our government partners, and the collective efforts of the private sector. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Hans Sy for being the prime mover of this vaccination drive across SM malls and his commitment to help the country become fully vaccinated,” said Steven Tan, president of SM Supermalls.

The one-millionth dose came almost four months to the day since the first person received their COVID vaccine in an SM mall. To date, there are 62 SM malls nationwide that serve as venues for the vaccination program of various LGUs in the Philippines

“It has always been our commitment to ensure the health and safety of the public that is why we will continue providing convenient and accessible venues where our communities can get vaccinated safely. We will roll out more vaccination centers nationwide to help expedite the administration of COVID-19 vaccines and curb the spread of the virus,” said Tan.

In May, SM Supermalls allied with the private sector in a campaign called Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat that aims to boost the country’s COVID-19 vaccine drive. Under the campaign, SM Supermalls started its Vax, Shop, & Dine initiative in SM Rosario where vaccinated individuals can avail of SM’s exclusive rewards, discounts, and deals.
