SM Supermalls feted with Bantayog ng Lawa Award

SM Supermalls has been honored by the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) for its dedication to environmental stewardship in the Laguna de Bay region. The recognition highlights the company’s efforts to promote sustainability through various programs, including support for the Clean Water Act and organizing coastal and estero cleanup initiatives.

These activities demonstrate SM Supermalls’ commitment to protecting the environment and preserving natural resources in the region.

In a recent photo taken during the awarding, SM Vice President for Corporate Compliance, Engr. Liza Silerio (second from left), is seen with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga (center). Joining them are LLDA Department Manager Catherine Buena, LLDA Acting General Manager Atty. Senando Santiago, LLDA Board of Directors member Dir. Gilda Peralta, DENR Undersecretary for Policy, Planning, and International Affairs Atty. Jonas Leones, and LLDA Management Committee member Engr. Emil Hernandez.

The award, known as the Bantayog ng Lawa trophy, was crafted to resemble the shape of Laguna de Bay, symbolizing the region’s significance. SM Supermalls also received a certification of recognition and appreciation for its consistent contributions to environmental protection. This recognition further strengthens the company’s role in advocating for sustainability and supporting government initiatives aimed at preserving Laguna de Bay.
