This recognition underscores SM Prime’s dedication to fostering employee development and building an inclusive workplace that promotes growth and empowerment. The award followed a thorough three-month review of the SM Life program, which examined its evolution over the past five years, its adaptation during the pandemic, and its alignment with SM Prime’s business goals. The review process also included site visits and interviews with randomly selected employees across various departments and levels.

Out of more than 70 submissions across three categories—People Program of the Year, People Manager of the Year, and Employer of the Year—SM Life was among the 10 finalists and stood out for its innovative approach to people management. This marks SM Prime’s first entry into the PMAP Awards and its first-ever win.

SM Life is the company’s flagship talent management program, launched in 2018 under the leadership of Hans Sy, Chairman of the SM Prime Holdings Executive Committee. The program emphasizes employee empowerment through personal and professional growth, contributing to improved retention rates, particularly among high-potential talent, and a steady decline in turnover over the past five years.

A unique aspect of SM Life is its focus on enhancing the employee experience, with initiatives like the SM Life app, which has facilitated over 100,000 kudos cards exchanged, nurturing a culture of appreciation within the organization. Leadership development is also a priority, with coaching and mentoring embedded in key performance indicators for SM Prime’s leaders to ensure ongoing employee support and growth.
