SM Prime Holdings, Inc., led by Executive Committee Chairman Hans Sy, has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to support the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR). The signing formalizes SM Prime’s commitment to backing this significant regional conference, which will take place from October 14 to 18.

The Philippines will host the APMCDRR in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). The event is expected to bring together various stakeholders, including government officials, private sector leaders, and disaster risk reduction experts, to discuss and promote strategies for enhancing disaster resilience across the Asia-Pacific region.

Hans Sy’s involvement in the APMCDRR reflects his ongoing advocacy for disaster resilience. As the first Filipino elected to the UNDRR global board of the ARISE Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies, Mr. Sy continues to champion initiatives aimed at building more resilient communities and reducing the impact of natural disasters.
