SM Prime and BFP Celebrate the Country’s Ten Outstanding Firefighters

SM Prime and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) award the ten winners of the inaugural Ten Outstanding Firefighters of the Philippines (TOFF) at the SMX Convention Center Manila.

In a landmark event held on December 2, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, SM Prime and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) honored the winners of the first-ever Search for Ten Outstanding Firefighters of the Philippines (TOFF). The ceremony celebrated the bravery, dedication, and service of BFP personnel who exemplify excellence in disaster risk reduction and public safety.

The TOFF program recognized the heroic contributions of nearly 38,000 BFP officers who work tirelessly to protect lives and property. Highlighting their achievements in fire safety, emergency response, and innovation, the initiative underscored the essential role of firefighters in nation-building. By honoring these individuals, TOFF aimed to inspire a culture of excellence, boost morale, and provide opportunities for career advancement within the BFP.

SM Prime’s collaboration with the BFP reflects its commitment to fostering safer and disaster-resilient communities. The program also marked a significant milestone in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between SM Prime and the BFP, formalized in 2019. Through this partnership, both organizations continue to drive initiatives aligned with sustainable development goals and disaster preparedness for Filipino communities.

Beyond TOFF, SM Prime and the BFP carried out impactful initiatives throughout the year. These included nationwide fire drills, fire safety roadshows in SM malls, art exhibits promoting disaster awareness, and specialized training programs for SM personnel. Additionally, the Incident Command System demonstration during the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) showcased their collaborative efforts to enhance public safety.

Through TOFF and yearlong initiatives, SM Prime and the BFP have set a precedent for recognizing the unsung heroes who play a vital role in creating safer, more resilient communities across the Philippines.
