On December 19, 2024, SM Mall of Asia (MOA) made history by unveiling the first-ever Department of Health (DOH) Wellness Clinic located in a mall. Situated within the Government Service Express (GSE) on Level 2, North Arcade, the clinic is a result of a groundbreaking partnership between the DOH and SM Supermalls. This initiative marks a significant step in making healthcare services more accessible and underscores SM’s dedication to fostering community wellness.
The launch highlighted SM Supermalls’ broader mission to transform its spaces into hubs not just for commerce but for essential services that uplift communities. SM MOA Senior Assistant Vice President for Operations Perkin So emphasized this vision during his remarks, stating, “At SM, we believe in creating spaces that promote community, wellness, and connection. This clinic advances preventive care, health education, and comprehensive wellness programs to benefit not just our employees but the communities we serve.”

DOH Undersecretary Elmer Punzalan echoed this sentiment, calling the initiative a vital move to address healthcare inequities. He emphasized, “By bringing health services closer to Filipinos, we ensure that every life is valued in our journey toward a Bagong Pilipinas.”
The DOH Wellness Clinic offers a range of services, including preventive checkups, family planning, maternal and child care, screenings for non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, and mental health support. Located conveniently within the GSE, it caters to employees, mall visitors, and the surrounding community.
This collaboration between the DOH and SM Supermalls sets a new standard for public-private partnerships, demonstrating the shared commitment to public health. SM MOA, as the pilot location, showcases how malls can serve as vital community spaces. For updates on this initiative, visit www.smsupermalls.com or follow @SMSupermalls on social media.
