In a strong vote of confidence from the investment community, SM Investments Corporation (SM Investments), the holding company of the Philippines’ SM Group, has been named the Best Large Cap Company in the Philippines in FinanceAsia’s Best Companies Poll 2025.
The recognition comes on the heels of SM Investments’ 20th anniversary as a publicly listed firm, a milestone marked on March 24, 2025. Since its listing in 2005, the company has demonstrated significant growth, with market capitalization soaring by 770%—from PHP127 billion to PHP1.1 trillion by the end of 2024.
The Hong Kong-based FinanceAsia, a respected authority in capital markets reporting, conducted its annual poll among leading investors and analysts across the region. The poll gauges companies based on performance, governance, investor relations, and commitment to sustainability over the past year.
“This recognition by the investment community affirms our commitment to creating sustainable, long-term value,” said Frederic C. DyBuncio, President and CEO of SM Investments. “It reflects our dedication to excellence and responsible growth.”
Beyond the top honor, SM Investments also secured commendations in the Conglomerates and Investor Relations categories and was named among the Most Committed to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance)—underscoring the group’s consistent corporate governance practices and sustainable business initiatives.
Other companies within the SM Group also received top marks. BDO Unibank was recognized in the Financials category, while SM Prime Holdings earned accolades in Best Large Cap, Real Estate, and Investor Relations. In addition, John Nai Peng Ong, CFO of SM Prime, was awarded Gold in the Best CFO category, while Teresita Sy-Coson, Vice Chairperson of SM Investments and Chairperson of BDO, and Jeffrey Lim, President of SM Prime, were both named among the Best CEOs.
Now in its 25th year, FinanceAsia’s Best Companies Poll continues to spotlight leading Asian corporations that set the benchmark in business performance, corporate responsibility, and investor engagement.
