SM & ASP Champion Change for an #AutismOKPH Future

330 strong advocates, friends, and changemakers came together to celebrate, learn, and build an inclusive Philippines for all.

Amid the vibrant atmosphere of SM City North EDSA, the collaborative efforts of the Autism Society Philippines (ASP), SM Cares, and the National Council on Disability Affairs converged during National Autism Consciousness Week.

ASP Board, SM Cares, Government Officials, and Autism Advocates came together at AOK Pilipinas Live! to dismantle barriers and build a brighter future for Filipinos on the spectrum

The AOK Pilipinas Live 2024, a special edition of the monthly web show, served as a crucial platform to delve into significant topics surrounding autism. Families, advocates, and experts gathered on January 26, Friday, at the bustling mall, creating a space for dialogue and understanding.

SM’s unwavering commitment to the autism community shone brightly through its ongoing partnership with ASP. Beyond merely pledging support, SM actively engages in cultivating safe and inclusive spaces within its mall facilities. Frontliners undergo Sensitivity Training, fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome and understood.

The first part of the program saw a panel discussion about making laws for an Autism OK Philippines. It was attended by Philippine Government Officials: Hon. Risa Hontiveros, Senator; Hon. Koko Pimentel, Senator; and Hon. Paul Daza, Congressman

The forum underscored not only awareness but also practical steps toward creating an inclusive society for individuals with autism.

SM Cares Program Director for Disability Affairs Engr. Bien Mateo emphasized SM’s commitment to giving equal access and opportunities for individuals with diverse needs, including those on the autism spectrum.

The collaboration extended beyond the web show, as SM announced its involvement in the Angels Walk for Autism, a testament to their dedication.

Scheduled for April, this event reflects SM’s holistic approach to community engagement, ensuring that their support for Autism Society Philippines goes beyond words, leaving a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by autism. In this partnership, advocacy transforms into action, creating ripples of positive change.
